A Realistic Home Cleaning Schedule for Busy Florida Families

Most cleaning schedules fail because they're written for someone with more free time than you have. This one is built to be maintainable in a real household — and it's arranged so nothing quietly falls years behind.

Daily (15-20 minutes)

• Kitchen counters and sink wiped, dishes cleared
• High-touch points: faucet handles, light switches, fridge handle
• Quick sweep or vacuum of the main traffic path
• Beds made, surfaces cleared of clutter
• Trash out if it's a warm day — Florida heat is unforgiving

Weekly

• All bedding washed in hot water (the biggest allergy win)
• Full vacuum including under reachable furniture and rugs
• Mop hard floors
• Bathrooms: toilets, tubs, showers, mirrors
• Dust surfaces, TV screens, and glass
• Bath mats and kitchen towels washed

Monthly

• Baseboards, trim, and door frames wiped
• Ceiling fans and reachable vents dusted
• Sliding-door and window tracks vacuumed — critical near the beach
• Inside microwave and fridge shelves
• Exhaust fan covers vacuumed
• Wash or rotate throw blankets and cushion covers

Every 30-60 days

Change HVAC filters. In Florida, the 90-day guidance on the box is optimistic — humidity, pets, and coastal dust load them faster.

Twice a year: full reset

Grout and shower corners detailed, behind and under furniture and appliances, upholstery, interior appliances, salt-air film on glass and stainless, and everything else that a weekly routine legitimately can't reach. Best timing here is before the humid summer stretch and after holiday and snowbird season.

How to make it stick

Pick one weeknight for the weekly list and one weekend morning per month for the monthly list. Anything left over is the part worth handing off — most of our recurring clients keep the daily habits themselves and let us carry the weekly, monthly, and seasonal load.
