Most Airbnb turnover checklists you'll find online are written for generic suburban properties. Volusia County hosts are dealing with sand, salt air, same-day flips, and guests who showed up specifically because the listing photos looked perfect. Here's the checklist we actually use.
On arrival
- Walk the property and photograph any damage or missing items
- Check restock list (coffee, paper goods, soap, welcome items)
- Note any maintenance issues (burnt-out bulbs, slow drains, etc.)
Bedrooms
- Strip all beds — sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers
- Replace with fresh, hospitality-presented linens (mitered corners, smooth duvets)
- Dust all surfaces, including nightstand drawers if accessible
- Vacuum and mop floors, paying attention to under-bed sand accumulation
Bathrooms
- Tub, shower, tile — soap scum and salt-air haze addressed
- Toilet — base, behind, and around fully cleaned
- Mirrors and glass — coastal-formulated cleaner, microfiber only
- Restock toilet paper, hand soap, towels (per host inventory)
Kitchen
- Counters, sink, faucet polish
- Stovetop and appliance exteriors
- Inside microwave
- Dishwasher run if dishes present; cabinet fronts spot-cleaned
- Restock coffee, paper goods, dish soap
Living areas, entry, and floors
- Dust all surfaces; spot-clean glass, mirrors, and TV screens
- Vacuum upholstered furniture
- Sliding door tracks vacuumed (this is where most coastal sand collects)
- Floors vacuumed and mopped end-to-end
Final pass
- Trash and recycling removed and replaced
- Final scent check (no chemical smell — guests notice immediately)
- Photo report sent to host with completed work, damage, and stock notes
